One of the six soldiers killed in a drone strike during the ongoing Middle East conflict was just days away from returning home to her husband and two children.

On Tuesday, March 3, United States named of four of the six service members who died in a drone strike in Kuwait during the ongoing conflict with Iran. All four Army Reserve soldiers died on Sunday, March 1 in a drone strike on a command centre in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait.

One of the victims, Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39, of Minnesota, was just a few days away from returning home to her husband and two children when she was killed, The Associated Press reports.

Sgt Amor’s husband, Joey Amor, said that the last month had been a state of “constant concern.”

“You could see it in the movements. She knew something was coming, she just didn’t know what scale,” Mr Amor said.

Israel and the US carried out joint strikes on several key Iranian sites on Saturday, February 28. During the strikes over the weekend, Iran’s supreme leader at the time, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed. Iran has responded with strikes across the Middle East, causing widespread panic across the region.

Sgt. Amor was moved off-base to a shipping container-style building a week before the drone attack. The building had no defences, The AP reported her husband said.

“They were dispersing because they were in fear that the base they were on was going to get attacked and they felt it was safer in smaller groups in separate places,” he added.

The couple exchanged messages about two hours before she was killed, joking back and forth.

“She just never responded in the morning,” he said.
