BBC’s Beloved Cosy Crime Drama Father Brown Returns for Season 13 — Mark Williams Back as Crime-Solving Priest, Mrs McCarthy Makes Special Comeback
The wait is almost over for cosy crime fans: the BBC has confirmed that Father Brown will return for its 13th season on Friday, 9 January at 2pm on BBC One and iPlayer. Filming wrapped in August, and the first look at the new season teases fresh mysteries, darker secrets, and the warm village charm viewers love. Fans will also be thrilled to see Sorcha Cusack reprise her role as Mrs McCarthy in the opening episode.

What to Expect in Season 13
Mark Williams returns as the sharp-minded, crime-busting priest based on GK Chesterton’s classic character. Set in the 1950s, the new season picks up after the joyous wedding of Mr and Mrs Sullivan, who are now settling into married life. Isabel joins the Policeman’s Wives Society, while Brenda embarks on a journey of self-discovery as Parish Secretary and learns to drive with Sergeant Goodfellow’s help.
Exciting storylines await: Father Brown is sent by Flambeau to visit Father Lazarus in prison, sparking a deadly game of cat and mouse that unsettles Canon Fox. Meanwhile, Bishop-Elect Fox plots revenge against Father Brown, and for the first time, the gang heads to the seaside, leading to unexpected twists and new challenges in Kembleford.
Who Stars in Season 13
Returning cast members include Mark Williams (Father Brown), Tom Chambers (Inspector Sullivan), Claudie Blakley (Mrs Isabel Sullivan), Ruby-May Martinwood (Brenda), and John Burton (Sergeant Goodfellow). Other familiar faces include Nancy Carroll (Lady Felicia), John Light (Hercule Flambeau), Lex Shrapnel (Father Lazarus), Roger May (Canon Fox), and Kieran Hodgson (Father Lindsey).
