In the age of viral moments, not even tech executives are safe from the spotlight — especially when the spotlight happens to be a giant kiss cam at a Coldplay concert.
Earlier this year, Andy Byron, CEO of the data platform Astronomer, made headlines after he was caught sharing a kiss with Kristin Cabot during a Coldplay show. The moment, projected onto the venue’s big screen, may have seemed innocent to some. But for others — particularly those inside Astronomer — it was anything but.

Kristin Cabot had recently joined Astronomer as Chief Marketing Officer. And just a few months before that fateful night, Byron had publicly gushed over her hiring in a LinkedIn post that now reads very differently.
“Kristin is a once-in-a-generation leader,” he wrote. “Her vision, energy, and empathy are already transforming our company. We’re incredibly lucky to have her.”
At the time, the words may have seemed like typical corporate praise. But in light of the kiss cam moment — and swirling rumors of a romantic relationship — Byron’s post has taken on a more controversial tone.
Was It Always More Than Professional?
According to multiple anonymous sources close to the company, whispers about the nature of Byron and Cabot’s relationship had circulated for weeks. Their sudden closeness, frequent one-on-one meetings, and shared business travel raised eyebrows. Still, nothing concrete emerged — until the kiss cam lit up the night sky.
What was meant to be a romantic moment at a concert quickly became an HR nightmare.
The Fallout
While neither Byron nor Cabot has issued a public statement addressing the rumors, internal sources report that the company is facing serious questions about leadership ethics, workplace boundaries, and favoritism.
Some employees have expressed frustration and disillusionment on private forums, with one reportedly saying: “It’s not about the kiss — it’s about what it revealed.”

Social media has only intensified the scandal. Byron’s original praise for Cabot, still live on LinkedIn at the time of the incident, has been screenshotted, dissected, and widely shared — not for its professional tone, but for what now feels like emotional subtext.
“She’s brilliant and irreplaceable,” one line reads.
“We’ve never had a leader like her before,” another adds.
Together, they read like a tribute — or, in hindsight, a confession.
Where Things Stand Now
As of this writing, both Byron and Cabot remain in their roles at Astronomer. But the scandal has cast a long shadow over the company’s culture — and raised important questions about what happens when personal and professional lines blur.
Whether or not the relationship began before or after Cabot’s hiring remains unclear. But one thing is certain: what was once a LinkedIn celebration of leadership now feels like the first chapter in a story no one at Astronomer expected.
