A SHOCKING new theory has surfaced after a devastating small-plane wreck wiped out a married couple on a routine trip.

The deadly wreck happened Wednesday night, leaving neighbors shaken and investigators searching for answers.

A fresh report suggests the pilot may have lost his view when oil suddenly spread across the windshield.

A preliminary report said the pilot declared an emergency because oil was covering the windshield, then diverted but crashed short of the runway.

The small plane went down in Henderson County along Echo Lake, Texas officials said.

The victims were Ron J. Timmermans and Barbara Timmermans, according to Florida Aviation Network.

“It is with deep sadness we report Ron J. Timmermans has ‘gone west’ on [February] 11,” the group said.

The statement said he and Barbara died in a crash in East Texas.

“Ron was an important part of training hundreds of pilots over the years… He and Barbara will be greatly missed.”

The plane went down along Echo Lake, near homes by the water, local reports said.

A neighbor said she heard the crash from her porch, ABC affiliate KLTV reported.

“It was just a loud, just mangling … you could hear the metal mangling and stuff,” said Mary Ann Shoulders.

She said she’d been outside with her cat when the noise made her look up.

“I just thought, ‘it’s a plane,’” Shoulders said.

“‘I know it’s a plane’ and so I came around and there it was.”

She said the aircraft was a single-engine 1994 Beechcraft Bonanza that crashed right in front of her home.

“I know it’s a plane because there’s a runway right over there,” Shoulders said.

“Immediately called 911 and said, you know, ‘we have a plane crash at Echo Lake,’” she added.

A few minutes later, Brownsboro firefighters arrived and began locking the scene down.

Their public information officer, Sara Hamilton, said crews were keeping the area safe.

“They’re going to do their investigation,” Hamilton said. “They will tell us how to proceed.”

Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse said the two people on board did not survive.

“I saw the woman and I didn’t recognize her because I thought it might be one of our neighbors, but I didn’t recognize her,” Shoulders said.

She said a dog was also on the plane.

“The dog was alive and so one of the neighbors took the dog to take care of,” Shoulders said.

The wreckage ended up resting on a power line, leaving neighbors without electricity, she said.

“I’ve been sitting in my car charging my phone because it’s dead.”

Texas Department of Public Safety and the Federal Aviation Administration were on scene as the investigation began.

Flight data showed the plane was in Orlando that morning, landed in Nacogdoches at 4:38 pm, and crashed at 5:25 pm, as investigators warned it could take time to remove the aircraft.
