Behind Closed Doors at Highgrove: New Details Emerge From Harry and Meghan’s Long-Awaited Family Reunion
7
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s long-awaited reunion with King Charles at Highgrove House has sparked fresh speculation after royal commentators claimed the private gathering did not unfold as the Sussexes had hoped.
The meeting, confirmed by Buckingham Palace, brought together King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet for the first reported family reunion since the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
While the Palace has released no official details, several royal commentators have now offered competing interpretations of what happened behind closed doors.
A Private Family Gathering at Highgrove
Following a week of engagements in the UK, including events marking the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games, Prince Harry traveled to Highgrove House, the King’s private Gloucestershire residence.
Meghan Markle and the couple’s two children reportedly arrived separately before joining Harry for the family gathering.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the meeting took place but emphasized it was a private family occasion, with no photographs or further details released.
Commentators Claim Sussexes Were Left Disappointed
During a discussion on TalkTV, host Kevin O’Sullivan and royal biographer Angela Levin discussed the reunion, citing unnamed sources.
Levin claimed Harry had hoped certain arrangements would be made during his visit but alleged those expectations were not met.
According to her account, the Sussexes “didn’t get a thing” they had reportedly wanted. These claims have not been confirmed by Buckingham Palace or representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Palace Focused on Privacy
Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl has reported that King Charles was determined to keep the meeting entirely private.
According to unnamed palace sources cited in her reporting, the King believed maintaining confidentiality was essential if family relationships were to improve.
The Palace declined to comment on how long the meeting lasted or what was discussed.
Highgrove’s Personal Significance
The reunion took place at one of King Charles’ most cherished residences.
Highgrove House is renowned for its award-winning organic gardens, many personally designed by the King over several decades.
The estate also includes the famous treehouse originally built for Princes William and Harry during their childhood, later refurbished for the next generation of royal children.
Reconciliation Still Uncertain
Although the Highgrove gathering marked an important opportunity for King Charles to spend time with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, questions remain over whether it signals lasting progress in repairing family relationships.
With no official photographs, joint statements or public appearances following the meeting, the Palace appears to have deliberately kept the occasion separate from official royal business.
For now, the reunion stands as a rare private family moment whose full significance may remain known only to those who attended.
