Ricky Hatton was pictured smiling proudly next to his daughters and granddaughter just weeks before his tragic death.
The Stockport-born fighter was found dead at his home in Gee Cross, Hyde this morning (September 14).
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the body of a 46-year-old man had been found and said that the death is not being treated as suspicious.
Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton has not only left the boxing world in mourning, but he sadly leaves behind his three children – Campbell, 24, Millie, 13, and Fearne, 12, and granddaughter Lyla, seven.
Ricky was 22 when he welcomed his son Campbell in 2001 with his former partner Claire. He later became a father to Millie and Fearne whilst with his former fiancée Jennifer Dooley.
Ricky’s granddaughter Lyla, who is Campbell’s daughter, came into the world in 2018.
Just over two weeks ago, Ricky shared a picture with his beautiful granddaughter Lyla to mark her 7th birthday.
Ricky sat with her on his knee as the pair cuddled up close together.
The caption read: “Happy 7th birthday to my beautiful gorgeous grandaughter @lylahatton_ Love you baby girl. Grandad Richard. Xxxx.”
Last month, Ricky also shared a photo with his two daughters Millie and Fearne in Tenerife.
Ricky captioned the family photo: “Lovely meal tonight as always in @thaibotanico & up in the safari centre with my @xmilliexxhattonx & @fearne.hatton_2013.”
Ricky also leaves behind his beloved parents, whom he had a decade-long rift with before reconciling in 2019.
The boxer fell out with mum Carol and dad Ray Hatton nine years earlier over money, which resulted in an ugly fight with his dad in a car park.
“Ultimately when I fell out with my parents, I hit rock bottom. I didn’t care whether I lived or died to be honest with you,” he told the Manchester Evening News.
Then one day, Ricky admitted it dawned on him that he needed to make amends before it was too late.
“A few of my school friends are the same age as me, their parents were having heart attacks and I was going to their funerals”, he says.
“And I thought to myself ‘I’m 40 now, I’m at an age where our parents might not be here much longer’.
“So if their parents are getting ill and passing away and all that, it’s not going to be long before mine go.
“I just made the effort to think ‘listen you know, let bygones be bygones, leave things in the past. That’s it’.”
