Jones called into the Fox News morning show on Friday to give an update on the procedure that forced him to take a break from work.

He said that after years of suffering from eye issues, a specialist finally told him that his retina had been “completely detached” for quite some time.

The issue, Jones explained, is genetic, and could have led to total blindness if left untreated.

The light-hearted host joked that his surgery was a lesson on why men should listen to women, as he only saw the doctor because the wife of one of his friend’s pressured him.

“Since my insurance is rolling over, I thought, ‘Why not?’” he told his co-hosts.

Jones explained that he was planning on returning to air quickly after the surgery, but he’s had some complications with swelling and his eye still won’t open.

The host said that the issue was difficult to pin down, because the “tear” in his eye was incredibly small.

Despite the setback, he insisted that he’s healing up nicely and will be good as new in no time.

“Since they’ve attached my retina, each day my vision has gotten better and better since before the surgery,” he said.

“I’ve had Lasik and all that. This is the first time in my life since I was a kid that I was able to see really well out of one eye.”

Now, Jones said the biggest issue he was facing was getting through the mountain of food that friends and family had sent him.

Earhardt told her beloved co-host that he was “tough as nails” and encouraged that he would be back in no time.

“We wish you all the best Lawrence,” she said.

“And if you need more food, we know where to order.”
