Prince Harry's Canadian royal trip is tumbling King Charles with tension

Prince Harry’s Canadian royal trip is tumbling King Charles with tension

Prince Harry is back on Canadian soil, but this time his trip is stirring more than just maple scented autumn air and it’s ruffling feathers at Buckingham Palace.

The Duke of Sussex has been carefully rebuilding bridges with the royal family, including a surprise reunion with his father, King Charles, which a former aide described as “a massive step in the right direction.”

Yet his latest Remembrance Day visit to Toronto seems to have reignited a familiar royal tug of war.

According to Instyle, the Palace is disputing claims that Harry’s team had properly informed them about his travel plans, which coincidentally overlapped with Prince William’s week of high profile appearances in Brazil.

Timing was everything and the dates raised a few eyebrows, with Harry scheduled for Canadian events on November 5, the same day William was attending the Earthshot Prize ceremony in Rio.

Harry’s team, however, insists there was no sleight of hand, the charities hosting the Remembrance Day events set the schedule, and royal communications were allegedly kept in the loop.

Still, the optics of two brothers on opposite sides of the globe has sparked plenty of speculation, proving that even in carefully choreographed royal life, a little drama is never far away.

King Charles' aides clash with Prince Harry's team after his Canadian trip

Palace aides raised eyebrows after Prince Harry’s Remembrance Day trip to Canada was announced, telling People they were caught off guard and hadn’t been informed in advance.

Earlier this year, The Mail on Sunday reported that Harry had offered to keep the royal family updated on his official engagements to avoid any scheduling conflicts, a promise clearly meant to smooth over any potential royal squabbles.

The timing of the miscommunication comes hot on the heels of Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent outing at Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday bash in Beverly Hills.

The reportedly “arrived hand in hand and looked very happy,” mingling with A-listers in what quickly became a social media spectacle even if some of the photos were later deleted from Jenner and Kim Kardashian’s Instagram accounts.

Initial reports suggested that Harry, sporting a meaningful red poppy pin for Remembrance Sunday, and Meghan had declined to give consent for event photos to be shared, but a source later clarified to People that “there were no consent forms” in the first place.
