SEAN HANNITY TAKES CENTER STAGE WITH OFF-KEY ‘NEW YORK, NEW YORK’ POLITICAL SINGALONG
Fox News’ firebrand host Sean Hannity put on a spectacle at the Fox Nation 2025 Patriot Awards on Thursday night—one that had the audience equal parts amused, shocked, and cringing. The conservative anchor, known for his polarizing commentary, treated the crowd to a unique rendition of the Frank Sinatra classic “New York, New York”, but with a decidedly political twist.
“Loosen up, everybody,” Hannity told the star-studded crowd, stepping up to the microphone with a grin that hinted he was fully aware of the impending chaos. The tune, he admitted, was aimed squarely at democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani, the newly elected New York City mayor and the latest GOP bogeyman, following his surprising victory earlier this week.
“I want to give you a 30-second version so I don’t ruin the night for some of you still living in New York City,” Hannity quipped. “But I’m going to need your help because I can’t sing to save my life.”
As lyrics flashed on the giant screen, Hannity launched into what he called a “small, little, itsy-bitsy sample,” performing with his trademark over-the-top flair. His version, off-key and wildly exaggerated, left many shaking their heads while others laughed out loud.

The audience gamely joined in on the chorus, crooning along to Hannity’s politically charged lyrics:
“Start spreading the news, I’m leaving today,
No longer want to be a part of it, high taxed New York.
These commie Mamdani blues are longing to leave,
Right to the very heart of it, bye bye New York.”
The scene was equal parts theatrical and surreal. Guests in formal attire cheered, clapped, and waved along with the screen lyrics as Hannity gestured dramatically, clearly reveling in the chaos he had created.
“Alright, that’s enough,” Hannity said to roaring applause, his performance concluding with a flourish. The anchor, who announced his move from the Empire State to the “free state of Florida” in 2024, seemed delighted to poke fun at his former hometown.
The Fox Nation 2025 Patriot Awards, an annual event celebrating conservative voices and luminaries, has hosted numerous celebrities and public figures over the years, but Hannity’s musical interlude may be remembered as one of the most bizarre and headline-grabbing moments in the event’s history.
Attendees later shared mixed reactions on social media. Some praised Hannity’s humor and audacity, calling the performance “classic Hannity chaos,” while others couldn’t help but mock the singing, labeling it “painful to watch” and “politically cringe-worthy.”
Despite the divided reactions, Hannity’s off-key rendition quickly became the evening’s talk of the town. And true to form, the Fox News host appeared unfazed by any criticism, tweeting after the show: “Had a little fun at the Patriot Awards. Don’t worry, New York—I’m enjoying the sunshine in Florida!”
The spectacle reflects Hannity’s larger-than-life persona: unafraid, unapologetic, and always ready to stir the pot—whether through commentary, interviews, or, apparently, a politically charged singalong.
For many in attendance, the moment will be remembered as a rare glimpse of Hannity letting loose, blending politics, entertainment, and pure theatricality in a single, unforgettable performance.
