The Fraser family lives on.
“Outlander” stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are finally finished playing onscreen couple Jamie and Claire Fraser after working together for over a decade.
“Caitriona and I are going to be in each other’s lives forever,” Heughan told the Post. “We are firm friends, and have been through this amazing journey together.”
He added, “I’m just so happy that she’s being really successful and continuing working on some great projects.”

“Outlander” premiered in 2014, and will end with Season 8, premiering at an unannounced date in 2026 – so the ending hasn’t aired yet, but Heughan and Balfe are finished filming.
Heughan, who was talking to The Post to promote his book, “The Cocktail Diaries: A Spirited Adventure” (out Sept. 23) added that the final season will still have a premiere and they’ll do press for it, so they’ll reunite for “a big celebration, I think.”
He revealed to The Post, “I haven’t seen the finished episodes yet. So even I don’t know quite how it ends.”

“Outlander” follows Claire, an English nurse who time travels from 1945 to the 1700s, where she meets and falls in love with Jamie.
Heughan, who is also currently in London preparing to play Macbeth onstage, said about Balfe, “We had lunch recently, in London. Normally those do turn into perhaps the odd margarita or two, but this time I think we were quite well behaved. But yeah, it’s always great to hang out.”
The Scottish actor added, “If we don’t hear from each other for a while, then we’ll catch up.”

Although Heughan said he still hasn’t seen the “Outlander” ending, he has spoilers on the book series it’s based on.
“When I first got the job, [author] Diana Gabaldon actually shared with me the final chapter of the final book. She hasn’t finished that book yet, but she knew what the ending would be.”
He noted that since the last “Outlander” book hasn’t been published yet, the show “is not the end of the books, because we obviously didn’t get that far. But, hopefully it is very satisfying for the fans.”
When asked if this means that Jamie’s ending in the show will be different from the ending that Gabaldon showed him from the books, Heughan told The Post, “I’m not saying if it is or it isn’t. I cannot confirm or deny.”

Heughan said that it’s “hard” to put his emotions around the end of “Outlander” into words, “to be honest.”

He shared, “It’s been a huge part of my life. It’s bittersweet, for sure. We were ready to finish the show, but also very sad to say goodbye to the characters, but also to our family.”
Heughan said that’s the “biggest thing” he’ll miss, “the wonderful people I’ve been working with for the past 11 years plus.”
“I miss perhaps putting on Jamie Fraser’s boots every morning, but it’s also really cool that [ending] has given me space and time to go do all the other things, as well.”
