Just when we thought the curtains had closed on the 2026 season of Married At First Sight, more drama unfolded overnight between the show’s most controversial couple Bec Zacharia and Danny Hewitt.

The pair’s rollercoaster marriage came to an end two weeks ago when Danny blindsided Bec by dumping her at their Final Vows ceremony. So on yesterday’s special episode of the Stan program MAFS: After The Experiment, Bec was ready to come face-to-face with her “coward” ex for the first time.

Only problem was Danny refused to join her and some of their fellow contestants – Chris Robinson, Scott McCristal, Joel Moses, Rebecca Zukowski, Rachel Gilmore and Alissa Fay – on the couch for a season debrief.

Instead, Danny – who was a shock last-minute arrival on the set (he flew into Sydney from Melbourne when filming was already underway) – only agreed to speak to hosts Laura Byrne and Brittany Hockley solo.

“I just look like a coward,” Danny was filmed telling producers backstage before his calltime on stage. “That’s what everyone’s going to say, ‘He was too scared. He was too scared to talk in front of everyone else because he wanted to control the narrative.’ I look like a b***h, if I don’t. I look like a coward.”

Indeed, that was exactly what Bec thought of her ex when told he didn’t want her on stage with him at the same tme.

“So he won’t sit with me and face me?” she asked the hosts about Danny’s demands. “If you were a real man, like you talk about being, you would face me. But the fact that he won’t after what he did to me is cowardly.”

When Danny finally faced Byrne and Hockley alone without Bec and their fellow participants, Bec took matters into her own hands and gatecrashed his TV appearance.

As he was apologising on-air to fellow participant Steph Marshall for his “repulsive” behaviour weeks ago when he called her a “f***ing little skank” for revealing their private Instagram messages, Bec stormed the set and demanded he apologise to her too.

“I’ve been watching and I just think that I deserve to sit here with you because it’s pretty cowardly that you couldn’t face me,” said irate Bec. “What I’m seeing is, ‘I rang Steph and I apologised to her.’ You’ve not once said, ‘The way I spoke about Bec was disgusting.’ and I’ve not had an apology.”

Bec did not hold back and also called him out for pretending to be into her the entire experiment when unseen footage that aired last week showed him saying he “could f***ing walk into Coles and get a better bird” than Bec.

Reflecting on Danny’s degrading “banter” on yesterday’s Stan show, Bec told him, “You said that about me and that night you told me you were falling in love with me.”

Danny looked visibly uncomfortable, shifting many times in his seat, as he tried to maintain their relationship was real.

“If you think that I was playing you the whole time, that’s cool. But you know how close we was [sic] at that point in time. I genuinely believed I was [falling in love].”

He soon coughed up an apology to Bec, but she was not buying it.

“Can you see how I felt led on? Can you how the things you were saying to me behind closed doors and the things that you were saying to the camera makes me feel, watching it back, feel manipulated?”

As Danny continued to explain his actions, the hosts and Bec felt it was a bit of “lip service” with the controversial star not taking any real accountability, labelling some of his comments a “joke”.

“You are absolutely, absolutely deflecting,” Bec told him. “If you are genuinely apologetic and if you do feel awful, why is it that you and your friends are on social media making fun of me?”

“I appreciate the apology that I got but I just never expected to see you say those things about me and so I’m sitting in hurt,” Bec continued.

“I think we go our separate ways and we go with respect. I promise that I’ll respect you and you promise to me that you’ll respect me and we leave it at that.”
