Kensington Palace has shared a new photograph of Prince George today to mark his 13th birthday. The young prince looks grown-up in the new photograph as he is seen smiling at the camera.
The photograph, which has never been seen before, was taken at Kensington Palace by Matt Porteous, who frequently photographs the family. The photograph was taken just after Trooping The Colour last month, which the family all attended together. The prince looks relaxed in the photograph as he stands with his hands in his pockets and his top shirt button undone, with his tie also removed following the Trooping festivities.
The caption reads: “Happy 13th Birthday, George!” It was shared alongside a party popper emoji.
The family will be celebrating George’s birthday privately today.
The young prince will most likely be spending the day with his nearest and dearest, including his parents Prince William and Princess Catherine, and his siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis
Today is also likely to see William and Catherine reminiscing about George’s arrival 13 years ago, with the young prince being their eldest child.
The birth was announced at the time by Buckingham Palace with a statement. The 2013 statement said: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24pm. The baby weighs 8lbs 6oz.
“The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.
“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight.”
