Popular rapper Lil Poppa, whose real name is Janarious Wheeler, has died at the age of 25, according to multiple media reports.

As first reported by Newsweek, News4Jax and TMZ, the Fulton County Medical Examiner in Georgia confirmed Wheeler’s death on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at around 11:20 a.m. local time. Moreover, officials told media outlets that the cause of death is currently under investigation.
In 2022, Wheeler was signed to Collective Music Group, which was founded by fellow rapper Yo Gotti. According to TMZ, Lil Poppa released his new single “Out of Town Bae” only five days before his death on Friday, Feb. 13.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office did not immediately respond to USA TODAY’s request for comment on Wednesday.
