Bader’s cause of death was “coronary atherosclerosis due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease,” and the manner of his death was ruled as “natural,” according to a report by the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner obtained by PEOPLE.

Bader, a native of Cincinnati, was known on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and X — across which he maintained a combined following of over 200,000 people — for sharing lifestyle content and financial advice. He also ran a financial coaching course, The Artisan Lab, and an email newsletter, where he shared financial tips.

According to the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s report, Bader was running on the treadmill at the Admiral’s Cove community gymnasium and “did not appear to be in distress” when captured by security footage at 6:20 p.m. Eight minutes later, he was found unresponsive by “another gymnasium patron,” per the report.

According to a Jupiter Police Department incident report obtained by PEOPLE, authorities arrived at the scene just before 6:30 p.m. Medical personnel continued lifesaving measures before Bader was taken to a hospital, both Reed and the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s report confirm.

He was pronounced dead at 8:07 p.m., per the medical examiner’s report.

According to the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner, who spoke to the creator’s mother, Bader was in “relatively good health, except for recent complaints of back and shoulder pain, to the extent that he was seeking physical therapy to address the discomfort.”

A toxicology report, obtained by PEOPLE, found that codeine was detected in Bader’s urine but not his blood, which the medical examiner’s report said suggested “recent use” of the drug but that it did not cause or contribute “to death in any way.”

The Upham and Bader family remembered the late creator in a statement to PEOPLE as a “visionary who led with love, lived with intention, and turned his passions into helping others.”

“He made a profound impact on everyone who knew him through his wisdom, humor, and compassion,” they continued. “Ben lived each day to the fullest, inspiring those around him to seek meaning, connection, and purpose in their own lives.”

“There were really no signs of this happening — we were supposed to get dinner that night and he seemed so normal,” she said. “I had just talked to him on FaceTime a couple hours before he passed and he was so happy and so normal and he was just smiling and being so funny.”

Bader shared his final video on TikTok on Oct. 23, the day he died. He previously celebrated his 25th birthday out to dinner with friends, which he shared in a carousel of photos posted to Instagram on Sept. 22.

Following his death, several of Bader’s friends posted tributes to the late internet star.
