The Aang gang (a.k.a. Gaang) acquires its fourth crucial member — well, sixth if you count Momo and Appa.
Toph debuts in live-action form in the new Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2 trailer, revealing Miya Cech in the fan-favorite role.
Fans of the original Nickelodeon animated series know Toph very well as the blind teenage Earthbender who teaches Avatar Aang how to master this particular element. She’ll arrive when the series debuts its second season in 2026, though Netflix hasn’t revealed a more specific release window.

The first-look trailer shows Toph in action as she enters an underground Earthbender fight club arena. She taps into her special Toph vision, which basically involves using the vibrations in the ground as a form of echolocation to see the world around her. We also get just a peek at Toph using Earthbending to warp stone around her body parts to serve as instant armor.
“Everything is vibrating…all around us,” Toph says in the trailer. “The world is turning. There is a secret life beneath us. We’re all connected through the earth.”
Season 2 picks up after Team Avatar saved the Northern Water Tribe from the invading Fire Nation. Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio), and Sokka (Ian Ousley) are now setting off on a mission to convince the elusive Earth King to aid in their battle against fearsome Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim).
The footage shows the returning Thalia Tran and Momona Tamada as Mai and Ty Lee, besties of Princess Azula (Elizabeth Yu) who now have a larger role in season 2. Maria Zhang returns as Kyoshi warrior Suki alongside Lucian-River Chauhan as Teo. And, of course, we see more of Dallas Liu’s Prince Zuko training with Paul Sun-Hyung Lee’s Uncle Iroh.
After some behind-the-scenes shifts in the creative leads, season 2 is now spearheaded by writer/executive producer Christine Boylan (Poker Face, Once Upon a Time) and director/executive producer Jabbar Raisani (Lost in Space, Stranger Things). Other directors for the season include Anu Menon, Amit Gupta, and Hiromi Kamata. Raisani was also a second unit director and stunt coordinator for season 1.
Albert Kim, the season 1 showrunner, remains on as an executive producer with Dan Lin, Ryan Halprin, and Brendan Ferguson.
