Michael Schumacher’s health has been guarded by his wife Corinna and the few select people permitted to visit the Formula One legend. The seven-time world champion has not been seen publicly since a skiing accident in 2013, with updates scarce since fans last saw Schumacher.
Schumacher, now 56, resides in his Swiss home, and his wife has recently changed her mind on visitors. She has become even more strict on who can see him after a blackmail attempt where three men were on trial, accused of threatening to leak details concerning Schumacher’s condition. Both nightclub bouncer Yilmaz Tozturkan and IT expert son, Daniel Lins, confessed and were given three-year and six months suspended sentences, respectively. Schumacher’s former bodyguard Markus Fritsche denied any involvement and was given a two-year suspended sentence.
Corinna and the Schumacher family released a statement claiming the punishments were “far too lenient” and they have now taken measures to safeguard Michael’s privacy further. Only nine people remain in their inner circle.
German outlet BILD claim that Corinna and their two children, Mick and Gina-Maria, make up part of those permitted to visit. Mick recently secured a new job in IndyCar after several years following his dad’s footsteps in F1.
Schumacher’s former manager, Sabine Kehm, is also in the inner circle and he revealed that the family’s new stance on visitors.
“The breach of trust has led to the family maintaining a greater distance from the people who work for them, to being more cautious,” Kehm said.

“I personally find it extremely perfidious that they want to exploit the suffering like this, so it’s clear why the family is taking a tougher stance towards their loved ones.
“Even if you separate and aren’t happy about it, that doesn’t justify something like this. Corinna is watching this with bitterness. And it’s obvious that certain media outlets will send photographers back to the site. It makes you feel somewhat restricted.”
Former F1 boss Jean Todt is one of the closest people to Schumacher, having been friends for three decades, while ex-Ferrari chief Boss Brawn is also permitted to visit.
Gerhard Berger, Luca Badoer and Felipe Massa, three former F1 drivers, are said to complete the inner circle and have visited Schumacher at his home.
But outside of those nine people, the inner circle is closed and there has not been a single photo of Schumacher published after his accident.
