Schitt’s Creek is leaving Netflix in days and fans are ‘devastated’
Fans are struggling with the fact the beloved series will no longer be available to stream anywhere
Fans have only a matter of days left to watch one of the most beloved shows on Netflix.
Shortly after the streaming giant celebrated the launch of a new series hailed as its ‘perfect replacement’, one of the most-watched and widely adored sitcoms is set to disappear from its library.
Schitt’s Creek is a regular rewatch for countless fans. However, time is fast running out for those wishing to catch it, as it will soon be unavailable to subscribers.
This is a significant blow for viewers, as the show is currently not available on any other platform.
While it may not have been a Netflix original, it became firmly associated with the streamer over the years. Now, a message on the title confirms that the final day to watch all six seasons will be 15 May.

Alongside the series, the documentary Schitt’s Creek Best Wishes Warmest Regards, which offered a celebratory glimpse behind the scenes of the show’s final season, will also be pulled from the platform. It remains unclear whether the series will find a new streaming home going forward, reports the Mirror.
For those unfamiliar with the show, it follows a wealthy couple — video store magnate Johnny and his soap opera star wife Moira — who suddenly find themselves utterly destitute. Their sole remaining asset is a small town called Schitt’s Creek, which the Rose family had purchased years earlier as a joke.
This once-affluent couple are forced to abandon the only life they have ever known, dragging their two largely grown-up and thoroughly spoilt children along with them as they leave their privileged existence firmly in the past. The Rose family must confront their sudden financial ruin head-on, pulling together as a unit simply to get by.
The show was created by and starred real-life father and son duo Dan and Eugene Levy, with Dan’s sister Sarah also featuring prominently in the main cast. It introduced countless viewers to Annie Murphy, who played Dan’s on-screen sister, while the late Catherine O’Hara delivered a truly memorable performance as family matriarch Moira.
Netflix recently marked the release of Dan Levy’s newest series, Big Mistakes. Both critics and audiences were swift to draw comparisons with his earlier work on Schitt’s Creek, with some going as far as dubbing it a ‘perfect replacement’ for the sorely missed sitcom.
While the new show may well entice fresh viewers to revisit Schitt’s Creek, the opportunity to do so will shortly disappear altogether. Although its debut season received a lukewarm reception, subsequent series saw the show truly come into its own.

It launched with a 69% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, yet seasons 2, 4, 5 and 6 all achieved a flawless 100% score. A devoted fanbase remains deeply attached to the series, with many holding out hope for a spin-off or revival.
Sadly, Dan Levy has already confirmed that all plans for a potential follow-up were shelved following the devastating loss of Catherine O’Hara. Fans continue to encourage others to seek out the original run, sharing their enthusiasm online.
As one person posted: “Best tv show ever, absolutely loved, loved, loved this show. It should never of went off the air. I laughed and laughed and laughed, I miss this show so much..”
Another declared: “It feels impossible not to love this show.” While someone else added: “100% best show of all time.”
One viewer stated: “Schitt’s Creek is a must watch! I’m in awe, this is a show I can always turn to to make me smile no matter which episode I watch which is rare to come by. This is a beautiful show about the importance of family – the growth from each of the characters throughout the series is beautiful.”
While Netflix made no formal announcement regarding Schitt’s Creek’s removal, devoted fans were swift to spot the alert and took to Reddit to voice their dismay. One user asked: “Sorry???? Where the hell am I supposed to watch it after that??”
A fan admitted: “Nooo I’ve been watching it there once a year, idk what to do now.” Some attempted to speculate on where it might resurface, with one person noting the show had previously been removed by Netflix in France before appearing on Disney+.
One viewer claimed the news had finally persuaded them to purchase the DVD boxset, with another replying: “I’m devastated, it’s all I watch.”
Schitt’s Creek is streaming on Netflix until May 15.
