Love Island fans found themselves sharing identical reactions as Sunday evening’s meet the friends and family episode delivered some explosive moments.

In keeping with tradition on the hit ITV2 dating programme, the Islanders’ nearest and dearest descended upon the villa to give their verdict on the romantic pairings, just days ahead of the grand finale.

Sunday’s instalment brought the highly anticipated friends and family segment. Ethan was reunited with his mum, Diana, and mate, Huss, who made their way to the villa to hear all about his Love Island experience.

While chatting on the Sundeck, Diana didn’t hold back her feelings about Ethan’s relationship with Priya, telling him: “I’m very disappointed about how you’ve been disrespected.”

Despite Ethan’s efforts to clarify matters and stand up for Priya, his mum remained resolute in her position, reports the Daily Star.

Elsewhere, Priya had a tearful reunion with her mum, Karen, and sister, Rianha, as they talked through her bond with Aidan, with both giving it their blessing.

Subsequently, both families met face-to-face, providing Diana with a chance to have a frank conversation with Priya about her concerns.

During their discussion, Ethan’s friend Huss remarked: “Yeah, you’ve had a bit of a rocky journey haven’t you?” to which Priya confessed: “It’s been really up and down!” with Huss expressing his support, saying: “You don’t deserve that!”

However, Ethan’s mother, Diana, seized the moment to express her disappointment, stating: “There was just one thing that… and it really upset me. It could have probably made me cry. Was the day when Ethan was here and said he was going to step back.

“You know, let you get on, and you know, you were grateful for that and I think Ethan must have just been down a few steps. You called Aidan over and you were there cracking on with him… right behind his back!”.

Ethan was swift to intervene, saying: “Yeah, I don’t think it was intentional! I think we’ve been very open and clear I don’t take that in any way you know.”

Priya responded: “And obviously I do apologise because I would have never wanted to feel, make you guys feel like that. Before that conversation, we kind of did know it was going that way so it wasn’t like a shock to you. But no, I understand how that can look!”.

Ethan then remarked: “Everybody in here navigates things as best as they see fit and possible” with his mate, Huss, chipping in: “Everyone makes mistakes at the end of the day!” as both families parted ways.
