Hotel owners face trial after woman, 21, found ‘crushed to death by wardrobe’ in room on night out
THE owners of a hotel are facing trial after a young woman was crushed to death by a wardrobe on a night out.
Chloe Haynes, 21, was discovered by her work friend trapped under the furniture at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool.

Britannia Hotels, which owns the Adelphi, faces 20 charges of breaching health and safety regulations.
No pleas have been entered but a provisional three-week trial date has been set for November 15, 2027.
Judge Brian Cummings KC fixed a further hearing date for December 4 this year.
Some of the charges specifically relate to the room Chloe was staying in – 510 – and an alleged failure to take measures to prevent the wardrobe “toppling over”.
Others are in relation to different rooms in the hotel, a court was told earlier.
Kate Blackwell, prosecuting on behalf of Liverpool City Council, previously alleged the hotel was an “unsafe place”.

She told the court there had also been a further incident when a three-year-old girl suffered head injuries when a corner cabinet fell on her.
JPs were also told there were also allegations of “unstable furniture” and windows that opened too widely – allowing guests to “climb out” of them
A probe was launched by Liverpool Council’s Environmental Health department following Chloe’s death in September 2022.
Chloe had travelled to Liverpool for an engagement party from the holiday park in North Wales where she worked.

She was sharing a room with her colleague, who later discovered her body.
Paying tribute to her daughter, mum Nicola Williams said: “My little nickname for her was Birdy. She was so petite and little and when she ate she was like a little bird.
“She was quiet, she was somebody who didn’t speak unless it needed saying.
“But in the last 12 months she was coming out of her shell. She was gaining her confidence and she had a wide circle of friends.”
