The highly-anticipated crime series marks Dan’s first sitcom since the end of the Emmy-winning comedy Schitt’s Creek, which he co-created and starred in with his father, Eugene Levy.

In Big Mistakes, co-created with Rachel Sennott (I Love LA), Dan stars as church pastor Nicky, who along with his school teacher sister, Morgan (Taylor Ortega), is blackmailed into a world of organised crime.

The synopsis continues: “After their petty theft, Nicky and Morgan are blackmailed into a series of alarming criminal assignments, all while their overbearing mother, Linda (Laurie Metcalf), is mounting a run for mayor of their suburban New Jersey community.”

It’s safe to say that viewers are loving the new series, with many binge-watching all eight episodes in one sitting.

The Hollywood Reporter said the series “offers plenty of mayhem but too little logic or heart,” while Variety described the series as an “absolutely unhinged crime comedy,” adding that the “cumbersome plot dulls the comedic beats”.
Meanwhile, The Guardian handed out three stars and praised Dan Levy and the ensemble cast’s performances, adding: “Big Mistakes is far from a major error, but it isn’t quite a triumph either.”
