Peter Kay made a rare appearance on Wednesday evening as he appeared on The One Show to announce his new tour dates for charity.

The comedian, 52, launched his Better Late Than Never tour which will kick-off in December and end at the AO Arena in Manchester in August next year.

Peter has now confirmed that ‘all the profits’ from the upcoming dates will be split among 12 cancer charities.

Speaking to BBC host Lauren Laverne and Vernon Kay, the Bolton-born star said: ‘I’ve done this tour now and I’m announcing the last load of shows and all the profits are going to 12 charities.’

The charities are Children With Cancer UK, Teenage Cancer Trust, Kidney Cancer UK, Blood Cancer UK, Bowel Cancer UK, Prostate Cancer UK, DKMS UK, Ovarian Cancer Action, Pancreatic Cancer UK, Anthony Nolan, The Brain Tumour Charity, Breast Cancer UK.

He continued: ‘Unfortunately everyone knows someone affected on that list and I hope people support it, that’s why I’m here.

‘You don’t even have to like me to come, it goes beyond that and it is about supporting these charities and I hope you’d come.

‘Tickets go on sale this Sunday at 10 o’clock. It’s a good Christmas present too’, he added.

Peter will take to the stage for over 20 arena dates across Newcastle, Nottingham, Glasgow, Dublin, Birmingham, Belfast, Liverpool, Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester, and London.

Rachel Calderon, deputy director of fundraising at Blood Cancer UK, said the announcement was a ‘milestone’ moment.

‘Everyone in the blood cancer community, whether they’re affected by leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma is genuinely chuffed and deeply grateful,’ she said.

Dr Michele Afif, CEO of The Brain Tumour Charity, said Peter has the charity’s ‘deepest gratitude’ for his support.

‘Including The Brain Tumour Charity as one of the charities benefitting from the proceeds of his 2026 tour, will be instrumental to us achieving much needed change for everyone we stand alongside. Thank you, Peter. From all of us,’ she said.

Discussing stand-up comedy on The One Show, Peter was also joined by Rebel Wilson, who reflected on starting her career as a comedian.

Meanwhile actor Kiefer Sutherland, who was also on the sofa, admitted he couldn’t take on the challenge of stand-up.

This is not the first time Peter has raised money for cancer charities as back in 2023, he revealed that a portion of his ticket sales, from his opening night Apollo show in Manchester would be donated to charity.

The comedian paid his respects to his much-devoted fan Laura Nuttall after she tragically lost her life at 23-years-old, following her cancer battle.

The super fan was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, an incurable form of brain cancer, following a routine eye test in 2018.

And despite being given 12 months to live, she completed her very own bucket list and achieved milestones such as graduation, presenting BBC’s weather forecast as well as raising money for brain cancer charities.

In 2021, the stand-up comic emerged from retirement to host two live Q&A sessions in honour of Laura.

The sold-out sessions raised funds which enabled Laura to travel to Germany for specialist treatment which wasn’t available in the UK.

Laura was diagnosed with a total of eight brain tumours and underwent a craniotomy to remove the largest tumour, followed by an intense regimen of radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

In 2023, Nicola announced Laura’s passing in an incredibly emotional tweet and wrote: ‘I’m heartbroken to share the news that we lost our beautiful Laura in the early hours of this morning.

‘She was fierce and tenacious to the end and it was truly the honour of my life to be her mum. We are devastated at the thought of life without our girl, she was a force of nature.’

It comes after the comedian revealed he underwent emergency surgery on a giant kidney stone and had to have a stent fitted, after the operation caused ‘major trauma’ on his urethra.

He detailed his terrifying health scare in his new book, Peter Kay’s Diary, which was released last month, admitting his ‘world collapsed’ when he learned about the nature of his operation.

Peter’s book featured the health battle in an entry written in the month of March several years ago, sharing that he first began to suffer severe pains while on a train to Wigan, and had to rush to use the toilet.

Two days later, he began to suffer throbbing pain in his lower back, and after googling his symptoms, it was suggested he may have a kidney stone.

Peter was then told that the operation would involved a small camera fitted with a laser, that would then enter his body to ‘blast’ the kidney stone away.

The star admitted he was stunned when he learned that the camera would be entering his body in an unlikely place.

Peter also shared that despite his embarrassment at the operation, the procedure went ahead, with his anaesthetist even asking him for a selfie before he was put to sleep.
