A driver allegedly fired shots in the air in Sydney’s west after police tried to pull him over.

Officers tried to stop the Nissan Ute at 9.20pm yesterday in South Wentworthville for a traffic offence.

He refused and police started a chase through Merrylands and Guildford.

The ute crashed with another vehicle on Hawksview Street, Guildford before the chase shopped nearby.

The driver ran from the car on Guildford Road, firing three or four shots, police say

Despite the police helicopter, riot squad and dogs brought in they didn’t find the man, who was wearing a bright orange shirt.

Police are appealing for CCTV and dashcam footage
