When paramedics arrived, they found a 44-year-old man with serious injuries in the garden on the ground outside the unit.

They immediately started lifesaving treatment, but the man died at the scene.

Although police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death, they are treating it as suspicious.

A police source told The Daily Telegraph there were people with the 44-year-old before his death.

“People heard screaming, so until we fully investigate the circumstances it is very much considered a suspicious death,” the source said.

One neighbour said they were woken ”in the middle of the night” by the sounds of a man screaming.

“Someone was yelling ‘help me, help’ me’ for like 20 to 30 minutes,” they said.

“This has happened a few times … they’re yelling like they’re in pain. Most people in the building have heard this a few times.”

Another neighbour, Mel San Juan, said they heard the person yelling “help me, I can’t breathe”.

“There’s been police been called to the street before,” she said.

“Every now and then there’s someone having an outburst, but a crime scene is pretty uncommon.”

An investigation under Strike Force Sunbach has been launched into the man’s death.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
