Police are urging anyone with information about an unidentified man found dead in a Melbourne river to come forward.
The man was discovered in the Maribyrnong River in Melbourne’s north-west last month.
Police responded to reports of an unresponsive male in the water just off Canning Street in Avondale Heights around 11am on Valentine’s Day.
The man was already deceased when police arrived at the scene.
His death is not being treated as suspicious.
Despite extensive enquiries by detectives, the man’s identity remains a mystery.
Police are now appealing to the public for any information that may help identify him.
The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, with dark hair and facial hair, and several distinctive tattoos.
A ‘Mr Horsepower’ tattoo and ‘Mum 1964 – 2006’ are inked on his right forearm.
His left forearm is tattooed with an outline of black flames.
The man is believed to be between the ages of 21 and 50.
He was wearing a dark shirt with ‘BARBER’ insignia, a studded belt, black jeans, black socks and a silver necklace when he was found.
Police have also released a digitally generated image of the man and CCTV captured on Sunday, February 8 at about 8:10pm.
His body was found six days later.
Anyone with information about the man’s identity, footage of him, or who witnessed the incident has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
