It’s widely known that Meghan Markle’s tenure as a working Royal was fraught with challenges, as she found it difficult to embrace the ceremonial protocols and inflexible framework of the monarchy.

In January 2020, barely two years following their highly publicized wedding, the Sussexes suddenly resigned from their Royal duties and moved to California.

Since that shocking departure, the pair have remained embroiled in a bitter dispute with Prince Harry’s relatives, following repeated criticisms of the royals through media appearances, television programs, and the Duke’s tell-all book, Spare. It comes as Prince Harry ‘crossed the line’ with Kate Middleton comment and ‘won’t be forgiven’.

A Royal biographer has now illuminated the strained atmosphere that existed behind the scenes during Meghan and Harry’s period as full-time working royals.

Tom Bower contends that despite the flawless public image the Sussexes projected during official visits and ceremonies, the atmosphere among their staff was ‘miserable’.

This revelation emerges as Meghan’s ‘inappropriate’ accommodation demand was ‘firmly denied’ by the late Queen.

In his controversial publication titled Revenge, Bower suggests that Meghan faced accusations of “abrasive” conduct toward staff members and diplomatic officials.

Reflecting on the Sussexes’ trip to Sydney, Australia, where they were warmly welcomed, he states: “Meghan was allegedly abrasive towards her four female staff and even towards the local British diplomats.

“According to one report, Meghan allegedly threw a cup of tea into the air. Her anger may have been partly fuelled by Harry.

“Every night he trawled social media, searching for snide comments on the internet. Every morning, he and Meghan turned on their phones to surf the internet.”

Lawyers representing Meghan have consistently refuted claims that she bullied palace staff or aides.

This revelation emerges as another author alleges that the Duchess believed the royals “behaved like babies.” Sources suggest that Meghan struggled to understand the numerous protocols and traditions tied to The Firm and had harsh words for the senior members.

In his recent publication, Yes Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants, writer Tom Quinn discloses what Meghan purportedly thought of her new circumstances.

He documents: “Meghan really disliked the hierarchy,’ a member of her former team said. Many of the rules seem pretty pointless and exist only to protect the relative status of each senior royal.

“And the senior royals are such a sensitive bunch – if one gets a gold pen or a new car, they all want one. Meghan thought they behaved like babies.”

Meghan and Harry explored her introduction to Royal life in their six-part Netflix documentary series, Harry and Meghan, and remembered Meghan’s initial encounter with the Queen after they started dating in 2016.

“My grandmother was the first senior member of the family that Meghan met,” Prince Harry revealed in the program. “She had no idea what it all consisted of. So it was a bit of a shock to the system for her.”

Meghan shared a candid moment from her early Royal life, recalling the time Prince Harry asked if she knew how to curtsy while they were on their way to meet the Queen.

“We were in the car, driving, and he’s like: ‘You know how to curtsy, right?’ and I just thought it was a joke,” she admitted.

Prince Harry expressed the challenge of explaining the nuances of Royal protocol to his then-American girlfriend. He reflected, “How do you explain that to people? How do you explain that you bow to your grandmother? And that you would need to curtsy, especially to an American. That’s weird.”

Meghan humorously likened the act of curtsying to attending Medieval Times, Dinner and Tournament, suggesting that “Americans will understand this” comparison.

She went on to demonstrate the deep curtsy she performed for the Queen, with a dramatic bow of the head and widespread arms. “It was like that. Like, I curtsied as though I was like…Pleasure to meet you, Your Majesty,” she described.

However, her playful reenactment was met with some disapproval, as certain viewers felt that the duchess was showing disrespect towards a revered tradition. It comes as the ‘biggest issue’ still stopping Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from reuniting with royals has been revealed.
