A schoolboy has been seriously injured after allegedly being clipped by a ute and knocked to the ground, as police hunt for the driver.

The 12-year-old boy was struck on Milperra Road between Edgar Street and Mons Road in Revesby, Sydney’s southwest, about 3.20pm on Monday.

CCTV footage shows the boy talking to three friends before appearing to step onto the busy road.

He was then clipped by a passing car and fell to the ground.

The orange or gold-coloured Nissan Navara — fitted with a hard-top canopy, silver bullbar and black wheel hubs — continued driving and did not stop.

Police were told the boy was hit by the rear passenger side of the ute, and investigators believe the driver may not have realised a collision had occurred.

The boy was treated at the scene before being taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police established a crime scene and have since released images of the ute as they appeal for the driver to come forward.
