Meghan Markle “can’t stomach” the idea only Prince Harry should apologise to Prince William to bring an end to the brothers’ rift, reports claim. An insider claims that the Prince of Wales is seen as an obstacle to the Duke of Sussex being welcomed back into the royal fold.

Reports attributed to the unnamed insider suggest Harry wants to restore relations and accept his share of the blame for the siblings’ falling out. The insider told HeatWorld that Harry misses William and wants King Charles to see his sons “at peace”.

They claim Meghan understands why her husband wants to repair his relationship with William, but does not believe the Duke should have to “throw himself” at the Prince of Wales’s feet to mend it.

The insider claims: “She can’t stomach the idea of Harry totally swallowing all the things that have been done to them and pretending nothing ever happened. She doesn’t think that’s healthy or the least bit fair.

“She’s telling Harry that if and when he makes peace with William, it needs to be for the right reasons, with a mutual sense of contrition.”

The claims come as William and Harry prepare to mark 30 years since their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, died in a car crash in Paris.

William and Harry came together on July 1, 2021, to unveil a statue of their mother in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace, on what would have been her 60th birthday.

It is believed the brothers may put their differences aside to mark three decades since the death of Diana, which shocked the world on August 31, 1997.

The brothers have been estranged for some 10 years, with William reportedly upsetting Harry in 2016 by questioning the speed with which his relationship with Meghan was developing.

In 2019, Harry told ITV he and his brother were on “different paths”. Things intensified in 2020 when Harry and Meghan stepped back from senior royal duties, moving to North America.

The Sussexes then lobbed a series of bombshell claims at the gates of Buckingham Palace, including allegations of racism, which William publicly denied.

There have been other occasions when the brothers appeared to put their differences aside, appearing together in public following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.

But by the following year, Harry’s memoir, Spare, was published in which he detailed an incident in which William allegedly knocked him to the floor in a row in 2019.

Attacks on the Royal Family were also made in the Sussexes’ Netflix docu-series, Harry & Meghan. Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace have long maintained a dignified silence in response to such claims.
