“The Terrifying Moment”: Nick Knowles Reveals Wife’s Near-Death Experience on Emergency Operating Table

Veteran TV presenter Nick Knowles has admitted he was absolutely petrified when his wife, Katie, was rushed to the hospital eight weeks ago for an emergency life-saving operation.

Katie, 35, needed immediate surgery after suffering severe complications from a hysterectomy she underwent in July. The lingerie business owner had been ‘surviving’ years of agonizing, unbearable pain due to PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) and endometriosis.

Two months on from the harrowing event, Nick, 63, reflected on the terrifying moment and provided an update on Katie’s arduous recovery.

“It was frightening. You just desperately want your wife to be well and healthy and not in pain,” Nick told The Sun. “I don’t think anything I ever go through will be a scratch on the surface of what she has been through in the last six months. She has been amazing.”

The presenter emphasized: “The whole thing of having a hysterectomy, especially at the age she is, being thrust into perimenopause and menopause—that process is really brutal.”

Surgical Catastrophe: Complications Pushed Katie to the Brink

The crisis escalated in September when Katie had to be admitted to A&E after the stitches where her cervix had been sewn up ruptured. This left her in crippling pain, bleeding profusely, and close to passing out. A team of six surgeons performed the emergency operation amid fears her bowel had been perforated.

Speaking of the terrifying moment, a helpless Nick said: “For Katie to be three months into her recovery, and for it to fail and her to then have to go in for life-saving surgery. The emergency operation, that was the one that was really frightening.”

Katie had previously shared details of the nightmare on Instagram, describing how her internal organs essentially went “rogue,” causing “crippling abdominal pains,” difficulty breathing, and bleeding that looked like “Moses parting the Red Sea.”

“I was rushed in for emergency surgery,” she wrote. “They did blood tests, a CT scan, and had me up and ready for surgery in under 10 hours.”

A Profound Sacrifice: ‘Feeling Less Like a Woman’

Katie made the decision to undergo the hysterectomy after enduring almost unbearable pain that left her “vomiting, curled up in bed and missing out on life.”

Post-operation, she candidly admitted the emotional toll: “I feel raw and less like myself. Less like a woman, if I’m being really honest. But this was a decision I made to take my life back. To stop surviving and start living again.”

Despite facing such profound personal challenges, Katie and Nick, who have a 27-year age gap, have been subjected to cruel trolling and accusations of her being a “gold digger” following their lavish six-figure wedding in September.

Katie, who started dating Nick in 2021, fired back at the critics: “Those comments kind of just pass over me because we both know it’s not true. Nick works hard, he has what he has. I work hard, I have what I have and then we buy each other stuff.”
