The death of a 47-year-old man who fell down a septic well in Southeast Texas after a suspected fight with a co-worker has been ruled a homicide.
According to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, Lorenzo Gonzalez-Rangel died from multiple blunt force injuries.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office believes the victim was in a physical altercation with the co-worker when he fell 30 feet into the underground well system.
“The initial findings were reviewed with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office,” the sheriff’s office said on X. “The investigation continues and will be presented to a Harris County Grand Jury for review. No arrest has been made.”

The incident came to light on Monday, July 13, when deputies were called to a construction site on Sheldon Ridge Way in Harris County.
The incident occurred around 7:40 a.m.
“It’s possible the man was pushed,” the sheriff’s office said. “He was pronounced deceased on-scene.”
The man’s body was later recovered from the deep shaft by the local fire department, KTRK reported.
The sheriff’s office confirmed to the outlet that the coworker and others at the site were detained as homicide detectives investigated the incident.
