A worried dad tragically died while rushing to a car accident involving his own daughter.

Gheorghe, 45, set off with his wife from their village of Vasile Alecsandri in Galați County, Romania, when they heard that their 23-year-old daughter had been injured in a crash.

Feeling unwell en route, he managed to pull over on the DN25 road near Șendreni before losing consciousness. A passing ambulance pulled over seeing the concern from people on the roadside.

Paramedics battled for 50 minutes to save him but could not revive Gheorghe, who already had a heart stent, and he was declared dead at the scene. He had suffered a heart attack.

His daughter escaped serious injury in the low-impact crash. No other vehicles were involved in the fatal medical emergency, with traffic briefly disrupted while police managed the scene.

Gheorghe’s body was taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for a post-mortem to confirm the exact cause of death. A police investigation is ongoing.

People have taken to social media to express their sadness and offer condolences to the family.

One person wrote on Facebook about how they tried to help him at the scene before the paramedics arrived. She said: “May God rest his soul, I helped with the cardiac massage until the paramedics came… such a shame.”

Another comment read: “God forbid such a thing, we should enjoy every moment of life because we never know when it will end.”

It comes after a tourist plunged to her death down a 40ft rock face in a horror climbing accident in Romania.

Antonia Mihăilescu and three fellow climbers fell when a safety rope anchor is understood to have given way during the group expedition in the Bucegi Mountains last Saturday afternoon.

The 36-year-old was an experienced alpinist who had conquered the Uhuru Peak on Kilimanjaro, reached Everest Base Camp, and tackled mountains in Peru.

Antonia, a respected dentist based in Bucharest, was roped with three men, aged between 26 and 51, plus a qualified instructor on a descent of the classic Albișoara Brânei route when the tragedy happened.

At around 3pm, the group was navigating an exposed section when the single anchor point they were all clipped into suddenly failed.

Antonia, positioned last, slipped first and triggered a chain reaction that sent all four crashing onto the rocks below. She suffered catastrophic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The three men were badly hurt but survived.
