A regional Victorian man has been charged over a crash that killed three people at Armstrong, near Ararat in Victoria’s west last year.

Two cars, a B-double truck and two smaller trucks crashed on the Western Highway, near the intersection of Thomas Road, about 12:30pm on May 28, 2025.

A 49-year-old Lyndhurst man and his 24-year-old female passenger from Clyde North died at the scene.

Three other people involved in the crash had to be taken to hospital — a 63-year-old Horsham man, an 83-year-old Geelong woman and a 52-year-old man from Corio.

The driver of a Toyota Kluger, a 65-year-old South Australian man, also died in the crash.

Detectives from the Victoria Police Major Collision Investigation Unit have now charged a 63-year-old Horsham man with three counts of dangerous driving causing death.

He has been granted bail and is scheduled to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday 16 March.
