A van towing a boat on a trailer has been pulled from beneath a popular fishing spot after more than two years underwater.
Police were called to a boat ramp at Currumbin Creek on Thrower Dr in Palm Beach, Gold Coast, about 12.41pm on April 21 and located the submerged vehicle with a trailer and vessel attached.
The van has been identified as a Volkswagen, caked in mud and marine growth, with no registration visible, Queensland Police Service (QPS) confirmed.
Locals said online the van, with the boat on the trailer, went into the water in October 2023, but remained hidden beneath the river until now, raising fresh questions about the circumstances surrounding how it ended up there and why it was never recovered.

Footage shows the vehicle almost completely encrusted, with the attached vessel, appearing to be a small aluminium cabin runabout, still firmly hitched behind it, suggesting the pair went under together in a single incident.
Police said the vehicle does not appear to be stolen and investigations are ongoing, with no trace of the owner at this stage.
