Kate Middleton marked Earth Day with a rare personal Instagram post that featured beautiful nature photos
The post referenced her “Mother Nature” video series, which she released in four parts over the past year
In the first “Mother Nature” video, Kate opened up about how nature became a sanctuary during her 2024 cancer treatment
Kate Middleton is celebrating Earth Day with a personal touch.
On Wednesday, April 22, the royal shared a rare personal message on Instagram in honor of the holiday. Alongside a carousel of five landscape images, Kate, 44, wrote, “When we listen to the rhythms of Mother Nature, we remember where we belong.”
The Princess of Wales signed the brief message with her first initial, “C” for Catherine. Prince William and Princess Kate have adapted the practice of signing social media notes with their first initials to indicate that a message came directly from them.
The post’s caption also included a reference to Kate’s “Mother Nature” video series, which she shared on YouTube over the past year.
“Mother Nature” was released quarterly, with one video for each season. The most recent video, entitled “Mother Nature: Winter,” was added to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ YouTube Channel in early January. That video captured the Princess of Wales on an early morning walk in Berkshire, the county where she lives with her husband and their children, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.
The royal shared the first “Mother Nature” video in May 2025, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Week. That video featured Princess Kate and Prince William together in the outdoors as she spoke about how nature improved her mental health during her cancer journey. (She scaled back her royal duties to receive treatment for cancer in 2024.)
“Over the past year, nature has been my sanctuary,” Princess Kate said in the video, in part. “The natural world’s capacity to inspire us, to nurture us and to help us heal and grow is boundless and has been understood for generations.”
The Princess of Wales recently stepped out for an event commemorating Queen Elizabeth’s 100th birthday at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, April 21. The reception was attended by many members of the royal family, as well as citizens celebrating their own 100th birthdays.
During the reception, Princess Kate shared an emotional moment with Tony Gledhill, a former Metropolitan Police officer who received the George Cross for gallantry in 1966. After they met, Gledhill told Kate that his wife had recently died but that before her death, his spouse had insisted he attend the palace party.
