If you guessed that Todd and Julie Chrisley were Mr. and Mrs. Croissant in the season 14 premiere of The Masked Singer… oui, oui, you were correct!
The couple revealed their identities at the top of the Wednesday, Jan. 14 episode, confirming judge Jenny McCarthy’s prediction. While chatting with PEOPLE about their appearance on the Fox singing competition series, both Todd, 56, and Julie, 53, say it was particularly special to have an experience that was just between the two of them.
“It was the first thing that Julie and I did together without the kids being around or anyone else around us since we came home, and it was our first time being away together,” Todd shares. “I enjoyed the fact that it was just me and Julie, that we were depending on each other and that there was really no stress to it.”

The pair were apart for two-and-a-half years before they were released from prison on May 28, 2025, when President Donald Trump granted them a full pardon. They were previously sentenced to a combined 19 years (although it was later reduced by a few years) in federal prison after being found guilty of tax evasion and bank fraud.
The Chrisley Knows Best alums hinted at their time behind bars and reality TV past on the episode, where they sang “Jailhouse Rock” by Elvis Presley. In their opening package, they also teased that “life was good, and we were inseparable, until we were torn apart,” before claiming they were “canceled” until “a miracle” reunited them “out of nowhere.”

“The clues we knew had to be something that was gonna give it away,” Todd admits. “And there were so many of them that were just so directly correlated to us and our life experiences, and I said, ‘They’re gonna figure this out quick.’ “
“The song, when that was presented, I was like, ‘Okay, this is going to let people know. People are going to guess it,’ ” Julie adds.

That is exactly what happened, especially among the Chrisley family. However, Todd and Julie say they were determined to keep it a secret no matter what it took.
“We went to L.A., and then Savannah called, and she said, ‘Are you doing Masked Singer?’ ” Todd recalls of his daughter, who was also a contestant on the show in 2024. “I said, ‘What are you talking about?’ She said, ‘Daddy, I was there. I know people that’s on set, and I just heard that my parents are the loveliest people in the world.’ And I said, ‘Well, that’s what you get if you go with me to [restaurant] Joans on Third. That’s not a tip!’ “
Todd’s mom, known as Nanny Faye, also had her suspicions.
“My mother called the other night, and she goes, ‘Did y’all do Masked Singer?’ ” he says. “And I said, ‘Why are you asking me this?’ She said, ‘I saw on the Facebook, where someone said they’ve guessed and it’s you and Julie doing Masked Singer.’ And I said, ‘Mama, why are you now believing anything on Facebook?’ “
“So she’s now gone back to her friend, Cheryl, as she said, ‘I don’t think it’s them, because Todd would’ve told me,’ ” he laughs. “My mother’s going to cuss me out because now she’s gone back to her friends and said it was a lie.”

Overall, participating on TMS was nothing but fun for the duo. Todd even says that the croissant costume felt like it was meant to be because it reminded them of Savannah’s late fiancé Nic Kerdiles.
“It was almost kismet because Savannah’s former fiancé, Nic, who has since passed away, he was French,” Todd shares. “When we got to see it, it was obviously a French croissant, and I looked at Julie, and I said, ‘This is Nic. We have to do this. This is the thing. This is what it’s about. We have to do this.’ “
Julie says she also “loved it immediately” and thought the whole concept “was a great fit” for the two of them — even though Todd had a bit of an advantage taking the stage since he had recorded a song with country singer Sara Evans in 2016.
“It, for me, was stepping out of my comfort zone completely,” she notes. “It wasn’t so much out of his comfort zone, but it definitely was for me. And to be able to do that and just have fun with it was the perfect fit.”
“It was very lighthearted,” Todd adds, joking, “No one was going on there searching for a Grammy. So we had a good time. It was a very nice time.”
