Good Morning Britain’s Richard Madeley has opened up about his relationship with Judy Finnigan in a throwback interview, touching on their individual paths since they stopped co-hosting television shows.
The pair became household names thanks to their combined charm on their Channel 4 programme, ‘Richard and Judy’, which ran for eight years.
With notable stints on This Morning spanning over ten years, the duo, who wed in 1986, have seen their careers diverge as Judy retired from television, while Richard has carried on, notably with a spot on ITV’s GMB.
Despite their separate professional journeys, they maintained, in a chat on Kate Thornton’s White Wine Question Time podcast, that their marital bond remains strong.

Describing their partnership as “semi-detached”, Richard explained their supportive dynamic continues off-screen, although they have stepped back from jointly fronting TV ventures.
Addressing how they keep their personal connection alive in the wake of professional change, Judy remarked: “We are incredibly close, we always have been.”
She emphasised: “Obviously, I think working together for so long has bonded us more tightly than if we had two completely separate jobs.”
Highlighting the impact of their on-screen collaboration, Judy added: “I think the thing is, when you’re presenting a show like the kind that we presented, it’s very instinctive, you’re doing interviews all the time.”
She remarked: “By the time I decided I’d had enough, you and I were something completely different anyway, it just didn’t matter, it didn’t make any difference at all.
“When you go and do GMB, I’m still here in bed, I’m happy to stay when he gets up, it doesn’t make any difference at all to our relationship.”

Richard shared with host Kate: “I can see that from the outside, it looks as if… as you say, we were bonded in our professional lives together and now we’re not, but actually, here on the inside, we still are.”
He further disclosed: “So we’re not actually as detached, I suppose we’re a bit semi-detached, but we’re not detached in the way that it might seem to outsiders.”
Richard and Judy have enjoyed a long and happy marriage of nearly four decades, and they have two children, Chloe and Jack, reports Cornwall Live.
