Beloved pop powerhouse Delta Goodrem has been revealed as Australia’s representative for the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna this May.
The Born To Try singer — who has sold more than 90 million records and had five number one albums — confirmed the news on social media, with a hint at her Eurovision song submission, her latest single Eclipse.
“I am so honoured to be representing Australia on one of the biggest music stages in the world,” she said on the official SBS reveal.
“The world is watching, let’s give them an eclipse. Let’s go, Australia.”
Australia, which had been broadcasting the song contest — traditionally only for European nations — to a large local fan base for many years, was invited to compete in 2015.
Organised by the European Broadcasting Union, Eurovision is watched by more than 160 million people globally.
Guy Sebastian debuted for Australia in 2015 before, only one year later, Australia reached its highest place in the competition so far with X Factor winner Dami Im coming second.
Goodrem will be joining other popular prior Australian contestants including Jessica Mauboy, Kate Miller-Heidke and Montaigne.
The announcement sent fans of both Goodrem and Eurovision into a frenzy.

“This is amazing” one person commented online.
“Secured my vote already,” another person wrote.
“She’s going to smash it.”
Eurovision controversy
Eurovision is not without its controversy, however.
Several countries have boycotted the competition, with Iceland, Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands and Slovenia all announcing they are not participating due to organisers refusing to expel Israel over the war in Gaza.
Eurovision had previously banned Russia for war crimes.
Previous contestant Montaigne also called for Australia to boycott the event, performing at a protest rally outside SBS studios in Melbourne.
The Australian broadcaster, which has aired the contest for more than 40 years, confirmed last year Australia would going ahead with its planned participation.

The Greens have also previously alleged “politically compromised voting” was at play within the competition.
“Eurovision banned Russia for war crimes but rolls out the red carpet for Israel while Palestinian children are still starving, bombs are still falling and cities lay destroyed,” Greens Senator and Foreign Affairs spokesperson David Shoebridge said in December.
“The International Court of Justice is investigating Israel for genocide, we should not be asking Australians to sing alongside a regime that has committed such appalling crimes.
“History shows us that cultural boycotts work. Artists and athletes refusing to perform in apartheid South Africa helped bring down that brutal regime.
“It’s a simple fact that our participation in Eurovision 2026 legitimises Israel’s atrocities.”
