A RETIRED Pima County detective is offering a new theory in the Nancy Guthrie case as the hunt for the grandmother stretches to 50 days.

The retired officer believes there could be as many as five perpetrators in the abduction.

Retired Pima County homicide detective Kurt Dabb said that the masked figure filmed on Guthrie’s porch could have been helped by multiple accomplices.

The 84-year-old mother of Today anchor Savannah Guthrie was taken from her Tucson, Arizona, home on February 1.

“I believe there are anywhere between two to four accomplices,” Dabb told Parade.

“The logistics of something of this magnitude is too much for one person to handle, in my professional opinion, based on the facts as I know them right now.”

Dabb said that a high-profile kidnapping needed more people to pull off than the lone man captured on Guthrie’s doorbell camera.

The grandmother is believed to have been taken from her bed – and blood spatters were found on her doorstep.

“It’s more than likely the home was canvassed prior, either by the kidnapper himself or an accomplice,” the retired detective said.

“Whether or not they knew a camera was there was a culmination of their reconnaissance.”

He added that he agreed with other law enforcement experts who say the kidnapping couldn’t have been a burglary gone wrong.

“I see nothing different on the video than what is publicly known,” Dabb continued.

“That being said, burglars don’t go to burglarize a house with a full backpack. This was a kidnapping.”

The U.S. Sun spoke with top security expert Brian Fitzgibbons with USPA Nationwide Security, who broke down the crucial details of the surveillance images.

Fitzgibbons corroborated Dabb’s theory that the abduction was not a bungled burglary.

“He is wearing bulky clothing to hide his body shape and thick rubber gloves, a full face mask – this was not a crime of opportunity and was not done in haste,” he said.

Pima County detectives are still following up on Guthrie’s case – even as the six-week investigation yields no publicly shared suspects or arrests.

Along with identifying the masked man on Guthrie’s porch, investigators are looking into a a potential WiFi outage that hit homes in the area the night she vanished.
