In a GoFundMe drive set up by Mr Cuthbert’s brother, Robert, he laments how losing both his brother and nephew “is a pain I can barely put into words”.

“My brother wasn’t just family — he was my best mate, my constant, the person who could make me laugh even on the hardest days,” Robert states in the fundraiser.

“And his little boy… he was pure joy.

“His smile, his curiosity, and the light he brought into every room made our world brighter.

“To lose them both so suddenly feels unreal, unfair, and unbearably heavy.

“As my family and I try to navigate this heartbreak, we are also facing the unexpected financial burden that comes with such a devastating loss — funeral costs, time away from work, and the many expenses that follow something like this.”

The driver of the sedan, a 21-year-old man on his learner’s permit, and the driver of the van, a 45-year-old man, both sustained minor injuries.

“Both men were taken to Liverpool Hospital for assessment and mandatory testing,” NSW Police said.

Police were told the sedan crashed into a ute first before continuing down the road and colliding with the van.

An investigation into the incident has been launched, with police blocking off roads with police tape.

Mamre Rd has since reopened in both directions.
