A much-loved star of Strictly, Dr Punam Krishan, has shared an update on her cancer battle.

Strictly Come Dancing star Dr Punam Krishan previously shared on social media that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer after receiving her diagnosis five months ago. This week, in a candid new update, the 42-year-old, regular guest on Morning Live,  has shared she is now undergoing treatment for the disease.

The star admitted that the journey has been challenging so far while posting a photo from her hospital bed, stating: “My husband, my family and a small circle of friends have carried me through in ways I’ll never forget. When something like this happens, you realise very quickly what – and who – truly matters.”

She added that so far her experience has been harder than she “ever imagined” which prompted comments of support from her followers.

Following her post, Dr Punam was flooded with messages of support from fellow celebrities and fans.

Later the former Strictly contestant took a moment to express her gratitude for all the kind words, before dedicating a special tribute to her dog. Posting a photo of herself snuggled up to him, she captioned the post: “I want to say a huge heartfelt thank you to you all for the love and kindness over the last 24 hours.

“I’ve been so touched by the messages I’ve received. I’m reading every single one and words really cannot express how much they have meant to me.

“This community has always been a valued part of my life, and I feel so held here by you all. What I’ve learned through all of this is that when the going gets tough, love becomes a presenter or host, and I’m moving forward with that strength.”

“And just a little moment to thank this boy too – My Simba. who has quietly been by my side every step of the way. Always. No words, no expectations – just constant, unconditional love. He has played a huge part in my healing and recovery.”

One person remarked: “You are such a lovely person, sending you so much love, prayers and positive vibes, take care.”

Another added: “You’ve got this. Can’t imagine what you and your loved ones have been going through! Sending you so much love and positivity.”
