Royal fans have pointed out a sad detail in Meghan Markle’s latest video of her children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet enjoying an Easter egg hunt around their Montecito mansion.

Royal fans have noticed a heartbreaking detail in Meghan Markle’s video of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet celebrating Easter Sunday at their home in Montecito, California.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, posted a selection of clips to Instagram showing her children enjoying an Easter egg hunt, feeding chickens and decorating eggs in the grounds of their nine-bedroom mansion.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Royal Family were miles away, spending the holiday together at the annual Easter Sunday service in Windsor.

In one video, Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, can be seen running through the sprawling garden carrying wicker Easter baskets.

Another clip shows a barefoot Lilibet walking solo through the garden, wearing bunny ears and a matching pink sundress while carrying a large plush bunny.

A third video features Archie and Lilibet seated at a craft table while they decorated their eggs in colourful patterns.

Prince Harry, 41, appeared to be absent from the Easter festivities, but Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, 69, could be heard in the background of one clip cheering the children on.

However, some royal fans noticed a sad detail in Meghan’s “Happy Easter” post.

“What’s really sad is they have no family to spend Easter with,” one person wrote on Twitter.

“Nice to see them playing, but why are they always alone? A few friends would make this much happier. Kinda sad to watch,” added another.

Meanwhile, a third royal fan said: “I’m sure the UK royal children had a carefree time yesterday afternoon but with all their cousins joining in the fun too.”

Other viewers were thrilled by the rare glimpse into the family’s Easter morning, with one gushing on social media that it was “lovely to see royal kids just being kids”.

“They are growing and having a normal life. Their parents made the right call taking them out of the royal drama,” another praised.

The Sussexes have been estranged from the Royal Family since they left the Firm and relocated to the United States in 2020.

Since then, tensions have escalated, and Harry is thought to have limited contact with his father King Charles, and no communication with his brother Prince William.

Archie was just a baby when the Sussexes left England and would have spent limited time with his cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Meanwhile, Lilibet was born in California, and it is believed she has never met William and Kate’s children.

Prince Harry has expressed a desire to reconcile with Charles and William, saying in May 2025 that he would “love” to have his family back together.

“There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family,” he told the BBC, adding that he has now “forgiven” them.

“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious.”

However, the Duke of Sussex said he feels uneasy bringing his “wife and children back to the UK” after he was stripped of publicly-funded police security when he stepped down as a working royal.
