Two toddler sisters are fighting for life after a serious multi-vehicle crash at a busy Sunshine Coast intersection.
The horrific collision occurred around midday at Banya near Caloundra, leaving seven people injured across four different vehicles.
The two young girls were travelling in a blue car driven by their mother when it was struck by a truck and pushed into a building site.
Both sisters suffered life-threatening injuries and were initially treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to hospital.
One of the girls was first taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital before being airlifted to Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, where her sister was also transported for treatment.

A witness to the crash, who claims to be a close friend of the family, says he has spoken with the girls’ father, who is in shock.
The forensic crash unit will lead the investigation into the cause of the collision.
Five other people, including the children’s mother, have also been taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
The woman, aged in her thirties, suffered head and chest injuries.
Another patient, a driver in his sixties, suffered a medical episode.
