The daughter of a woman who was killed in a tragic double fatal house fire has described her heartache.

The daughter of a Queensland woman killed in a devastating house fire has described her heartache in the wake of the tragedy.

Leanne Laver, 62, and family friend Phillip Gordon, 73, were killed when a blazing inferno tore through the Laver family home in Kingston, Logan on Tuesday afternoon.

The devastating blaze also claimed the lives of five cats, two parrots and two tanks of fish.

Following the horrific scenes, Ms Laver’s daughter Chloe has spoken out as her family appeals for help in the wake of the tragedy.

Posting on a GoFundMe page, Chloe described Tuesday’s horror as “an unimagined tragedy”.

“While my father, my brother and I managed to escape with just the clothes on our backs, our lives have forever changed,” she wrote.

“We are heartbroken to share that we lost our beloved mother – our unwavering support system – and our brave Uncle Phil, who selflessly ran back in to the flames to try and save her.”

She added that the tragedy came after her mother had recently undergone treatment for stage 4 lymphoma.

“In an instant, the fire took her from us, along with Uncle Phil, five of our seven cherished cats, our two parrots and our two fish tanks,” Chloe said.

“Right now, we have absolutely nothing and nowhere to turn. We are relying entirely on the kindness of our community for basic everyday necessities, like food and clothing.”

The blaze broke out at just after 3pm on Tuesday afternoon and quickly tore through the two-storey property, which Leanne had rented with her husband for 35 years.

The pair had three children together, including a daughter they informally adopted as an adult.

Police said the house was fully ablaze when emergency services arrived about 3.04pm, prompting the evacuation of nearby homes and the set up of an exclusion zone hundreds of metres down the street.

“A crime scene has been declared as investigations into the cause of the fire are under way,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“Anyone with relevant information or vision is urged to contact police.”

Images taken by members of the public, some standing more than a kilometre away, show a massive plume of smoke billowing over the Logan area.

Queensland Police Inspector Jason Barrowcliffe told the ABC the smoke could be seen as far away as Holmview, nearly 11km away.

One neighbour told 7News she could smell the smoke before she even realised the blaze was spreading.

“Within three to five minutes, like, the whole house was engulfed,” she said.

“We were just yelling to make sure is anybody inside, is everybody OK.”

It is the second of three building fire tragedies to hit Queensland in the space of a week following the death of a young mother in the Sunshine Coast on Sunday and the death of a man inside a shed in Nambour on Tuesday night, July 13.

Isabella Nicholls, 21, was inside a property in King St, Buderim, when fire broke out.

She was able to escape but suffered severe injuries and died in hospital a short while later.

In the space of 24 hours, more than $2000 had been raised in her memory.
