Machete attack in Melbourne CBD

A man and a woman have been injured in a machete attack in Melbourne’s CBD overnight.

The pair were struck by a man armed with the weapon in the Queen St area just after 2.20am on Monday.

A woman in her 20s was treated for upper body injuries and transported to The Alfred in a serious condition, a spokesperson from Ambulance Victoria told 7NEWS.com.au

A male, believed to be in his 20s, was treated for mid body injuries and transported to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition.

A messy scene was left behind with bloodied paper, handbags and heels strewn over the footpath.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated,” police said.
