Police today confirmed the remains belonged to Mr Baghsarian.

The men were taken to Riverstone Police Station where they are being questioned.

They are expected to be charged with Mr Baghsarian’s kidnapping and murder.

Electronic devices and clothing were among the items seized during the raids.

A third search warrant was conducted in Lake Macquarie, where electronic devices were also seized.

In the days after the kidnapping, police said up to three people could be involved in the plot, with Robbery and Serious Crimes Squad Commander Andrew Marks saying more arrests could follow.

“We suspect there is more than three [alleged offenders involved],” he said.

“At this stage we don’t have any evidence to implicate others, but that is ongoing.”

“I believe somebody else was sending those messages,” he said.

Superintendent Marks said the men had limited criminal histories.

“They’re known [to police] but only for insignificant matters,” he said.

The men had been staying with their parents at the time of their arrest, with Superintendent Marks saying their relatives had been “shocked” by the raids.

Mr Baghsarian’s family on Wednesday released a statement via NSW Police requesting privacy as they “continue attempting to come to terms with this incident”.

“We welcome the news of the recent arrests in relation to the kidnapping of our father and grandfather,” the statement said.

Superintendent Marks described the tragedy as “somebody’s worst nightmare”.

“The fact that an innocent man was taken from his home is not acceptable,” he said.

“These people need to be held to account for that.”

In recent days, officers had scoured bushland in Glenorie following the sighting of a Toyota Corolla forensically linked to a “stronghold” in nearby Dural.

Police believe the derelict Dural property was used as a base by Mr Baghsarian’s captors.

Images and video had circulated of Mr Baghsarian tied up and being assaulted, prompting police to repeatedly issue urgent pleas for his safe return.

Superintendent Marks previously said police were investigating whether the car in question was driven out to Glenorie and Pitt Town within 48 hours of his abduction.

He said on Wednesday police believed Mr Baghsarian died at the Dural location before his body was left at the Pitt Town scene.
