Three men have been charged over an alleged assault in Sydney’s inner south which left another man with critical injuries over the weekend.

Police say two men, aged 32 and 28, were walking along Gardeners Rd in Rosebery about 6.50pm on Saturday when they got into an altercation with three unknown men.

The 32-year-old was allegedly assaulted, suffering critical injuries, while the offenders fled the scene in a red Nissan hatchback.

He was rushed to hospital while his friend was not injured.

Police arrested three men, two aged 19 and one aged 20, at their homes on Sunday.

They also seized a red hatchback for forensic examination.

All three men were charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent.

They were refused bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Monday.
