The Briton has opened up after an impressive showing in America
Lando Norris has admitted that McLaren are likely to make only minor changes to his car after he triumphed in the sprint race at the Miami Grand Prix.
The defending F1 champion, who has endured a slow start to the season, finished ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
Kimi Antonelli, who had finished fourth, has been demoted to sixth for excessive track limits breaches, while he’s also been slapped with a five-second penalty.
Ahead of the main event on Sunday, Norris expressed his delight with his display.
“Nice to be back on the top step! A good day for us,” he said.
“It was hot out there and sweaty. I was pushing, trying to find that balance of pushing and staying relaxed to not make mistakes.
“A good start to the weekend but now I’ve got to do it all over again.”
When asked if McLaren would make any changes to his car, the British racer suggested that only minor tweaks and adjustments were in order.
“Probably not too many. It’s worked so far. We will change a couple things. There are a couple things I want to be different from yesterday that we will adjust,” he stated.
“Hopefully we have a bit more to come, but I’m sure the others will too. We will keep our head down and keep pushing.”

After finishing second in the sprint, Piastri also provided his verdict.
“I’m mostly satisfied. There’s obviously a little bit to find to try to stay with Lando, but overall, it was a good morning,” said the Australian.
“We’ll try to see what we can do for qualifying. I think everyone else will learn a lot, but so will we, so hopefully we can maintain that through the rest of the weekend.”
And Ferrari’s Leclerc has admitted that he’s chasing a higher spot on the podium, with the 28-year-old pleased with the work Ferrari have put in behind the scenes.
“The upgrades worked well. Thanks to the team that have done massive work over these five weeks,” he said.

“I’m not satisfied with P3. We wish we were higher but McLaren have brought significant upgrades as well and done a big step forward but we are not too far off.
“If we put everything together, we can start a bit higher up.”
Qualifying for the Miami Grand Prix will take place at 9pm on Saturday.
The main race itself shall commence 24 hours later, with Norris now dreaming of a seismic win that can ignite his campaign.
