An insider close to Meghan Markle and her brand has dismissed reports of alleged “bankruptcy” fears regarding her lifestyle brand, As Ever, the Daily Express can reveal. The Duchess of Sussex launched her lifestyle brand, As Ever, in 2025, around the same time as her Netflix cooking show, With Love, Meghan, which is linked to the brand.

While specific numbers for As Ever’s sales have not been officially released, earlier this year, it was reported that the website saw a 36% growth since October. But recent reports claimed that data from the first three months of this year showed traffic on the business’s website had dipped, which correlated with a similar slump in the Duchess’s popularity among Americans. It came amid sources saying As Ever may not even make it “by the end of the year”.

But a spokesperson for the Duchess dismissed the claims and said they are “entirely false and based on speculation”.

They told the Daily Express: “Recent claims suggesting that As Ever is facing financial difficulties or bankruptcy are entirely false and based on speculation rather than fact.

“As Ever continues to grow as an independent business, supported by a strong customer community and an exciting pipeline of future products. As with any growing brand, we make decisions based on long-term planning and customer demand, not tabloid conjecture.

“The continued appetite for As ever products speaks for itself, and we remain focused on what matters most: delivering quality products and building a brand that our customers love.”

US outlet Newsweek gathered web traffic data and compared it with a new YouGov survey to present an overall view of the Duchess’s standing.

The outlet’s royal editor, Jack Royston, noted: “There appears to have been a decline in her US popularity at broadly the same time as a significant drop in US visitors to her website.

“Correlation does not imply causation, and the overlap may be coincidental. However, if the trend persists, it is likely to draw attention from Meghan’s team as they plan their future marketing strategy.”

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail’s columnist, Alison Boshoff, warned that the expiry dates of the As Ever jams, teas and tins of flower sprinkles loom on the horizon.

She said that there was more chance of King Charles “taking a swim in a pool of [Meghan’s] homemade conserve than her selling all her stock” before the expiry dates run out.

Speaking of the brand as a whole, she also said she believes Meghan’s brand could go bankrupt from the jam issue alone.

On top of that, sources told Women’s Day that such an outcome could come as soon as “the end of the year”, adding: “Meghan just can’t move enough product and she can’t expect to sell things at full price with shortened expiration dates. Unless she and Harry have some miracle up their sleeve, there might be no saving this business.”
