Has I’m A Celebrity Australia Been Axed? Network 10 Responds To Spicy Report Doing The Rounds

Have our days of watching Z-grade celebs inhale bug guts for our entertainment come to an end? An insider is claiming Network 10 has axed its equal parts beloved and bonkers series I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and I am crying into Robert Irwin‘s biceps.
According to TV Blackbox, parent company Paramount has scrapped the long-running reality series, with production company ITV now hustling to shop the format around to rival networks in the hopes of keeping it alive.
However, a spokesperson for Network 10 has since shared that its upcoming slate of television is still up in the air.
“Decisions regarding the 2027 program schedule including I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! will be made in the coming weeks,” the spokesperson told PEDESTRIAN.TV, stressing that decisions like this are routine at this stage of the year ahead of each new season of the hit reality series.
TV Blackbox claimed that the move could be related to the show’s declining ratings, with viewership dropping sharply after a strong 2026 premiere of 925,000 national viewers, reportedly due to the lack of audience participation in evictions and challenges. The finale ultimately drew 571,000 viewers, down from 651,000 in 2025.
The rumoured move marks yet another major shake-up in Australia’s struggling free-to-air TV landscape, as networks continue tightening budgets and reassessing big-ticket reality formats.

The series originally debuted in 2015 and quickly became one of Channel 10’s flagship entertainment programs, helping bolster the careers of washed-up celebs while simultaneously traumatising them with snakes, spiders and whatever horrifying animal organ producers could dig up that season.
The jungle-based reality show — which has become a staple of Aussie screens thanks to its chaotic challenges, bizarre tucker trials and meme-worthy celebrity moments — has most recently been fronted by beloved hosting duo Robert Irwin and Julia Morris.

It has starred a host of local and international talent, including the late Shane Warne, Abbie Chatfield, Chrissie Swan, Grant Denyer and Cyrell Paule, to name just a few.
The news follows reports that the series had been gearing up for an all-star season featuring some of the aforementioned celebs, so this unfortunate update comes as quite a surprise.
At this stage, it’s unclear whether another broadcaster or streaming platform will swoop in to save the franchise, but given the show’s loyal audience and enduring popularity, don’t rule out a resurrection just yet.
