Prince William is reportedly not looking forward to the fact that King Charles may meet with Prince Harry in a matter of days
Prince William is reportedly uneasy about the potential meeting between King Charles and Prince Harry, according to a close friend.
The Duke of Sussex, who stepped away from royal duties in 2020, will be in the UK for the 2025 Wellchild Awards – a charity he is patron of – on September 8.
While in the UK, it is believed that Harry may meet with his father, Charles, although no official confirmation has been given. If this meeting occurs, it would mark their first encounter since February 2024 amidst ongoing tensions within the royal family.
The monarch is reportedly open to the idea of a meeting, but William, who has been estranged from his younger brother Harry for some time, does not share the same sentiment.
Despite his own reluctance to meet with Harry, 40, during his upcoming visit, 43-year-old William reportedly respects the King’s autonomy in deciding how to interact with his youngest son. As per The Daily Beast, a friend of William told The Royalist this week that William believes the meeting is a “terrible idea.”
The friend stated, “Ultimately, William is a loyal soldier. He respects his father’s rank, and he respects his father’s right to make his own decisions, and he won’t make a fuss if it happens.”
The source added, “But he (William) thinks a Harry meeting is a terrible, terrible idea.”
William has not officially addressed the feud with his sibling, or Harry’s forthcoming trip to the UK, reports the Express.
The King has likewise remained quiet on the issue, with no official confirmation yet about whether he will see his younger son next week.
The monarch and Harry are thought to have had a strained relationship lately, with Harry revealing to the BBC in May that his father “won’t speak” to him.
This is believed to have been the situation at that time as Harry was involved in a court challenge against the Home Office regarding his reduced UK taxpayer-funded security privileges – a legal battle the prince ultimately lost.
