Gogglebox favourite set to replace Sam Thompson on Love Island Aftersun after he quit show

A FAVOURITE from Gogglebox is set to replace Sam Thompson on Love Island Aftersun.

It comes as the star quit his role presenting on the popular programme after three years.

A source exclusively revealed to The Sun that Gogglebox‘s Joe Baggs has bagged himself the role as Sam’s replacement.

He’s seen huge television success ever since first taking a seat on the Gogglebox sofa back in 2010.

The source shared: “Joe is a big favourite of ITV and has already been installed as part of the Britain’s Got Talent team and has been hosting launches for the channel too, including Graham Norton’s recent show The Neighbourhood.

“He’s the natural successor for Sam Thompson on Aftersun and is being lined up for that role.

“He’s such a big presenting talent and a natural fit for Love Island.”

Sam’s departure from Aftersun comes amid a show shake-up where the programme is hoping to introduce more fresh talent to their screen.

An insider revealed to The Sun: “Sam’s schedule is jam packed and producers are going in a different direction so there’ll be a bit of a shake-up on Aftersun.

“ITV is really keen on harnessing new talent especially plucking from their pool of influencers and TikTokkers to boost ratings.

“Sam may well return as a guest, he still loves the show, but he won’t be a regular.”

Meanwhile a spokeswoman for Sam added at the time: “Sam absolutely loved his time as part of the Love Island team and the show will always have a special place in his heart, but he felt 2026 was the year to concentrate on his many other ITV projects.

“Sam is a big part of the ITV family and is looking forward to his imminent I’m A Celeb South Africa Final presenting role.”
